POLICE CARE UK SIGN WELLBEING PARTNERSHIP WITH METFRIENDLY

Feb 28, 2024 | UK News

Police Care UK has signed a new partnership with Metfriendly after the police family financial experts made a significant donation to the charity’s first annual Christmas appeal last year.

The unique partnership means that both organisations will now assist with the physical, emotional and financial wellbeing of police officers at the frontline. Metfriendly’s contribution will go directly towards supporting members of the UK police who have suffered physical and psychological harm in their role.

Police Care UK’s Interim Deputy CEO, Jo Ford, said it was a timely boost for the team at the beginning of 2024. “Metfriendly’s contribution to our first Christmas Appeal will help make a significant difference to the lives of police officers and staff psychologically harmed by repeated exposure to trauma in policing.

“Our research ‘The Job and The Life’ revealed that 90 per cent of responding police officers reported trauma exposure in their everyday role, meaning demand for Police Care UK’s programme of practical, emotional and financial support is only likely to increase.”

Annette Petchey, CEO of Metfriendly said: “The Metfriendly Police Family Finance Index provides clear evidence that times are tough for the UK police family. We are pleased that, as an organisation owned by our customers, all of which are connected to the UK police family, we can support other bodies that provide practical and important support to the police family. We have been supporting police families for over 130 years.”
