2025 WORLD RESCUE CHALLENGE TO WELCOME KEY IMPROVEMENTS

Apr 8, 2025 | International News

The World Rescue Organisation will introduce several new additions at the 2025 World Rescue Challenge (WRC), which will take place from 9 to 14 September next in Karlovac, a city nestled in Central Croatia.

The Chair of the World Rescue Organisation (WRO) has thanked the local authorities in Croatia, as well as the local and national fire and rescue services, for “stepping up at such short notice and for their unwavering support of the World Rescue Organisation”.

Paul Schroeder (pictured left) said that the WRO is continuously striving to enhance and evolve the WRC experience, building on research findings, insights from past events, and invaluable feedback from participants.

“In line with our commitment to innovation and excellence, we have introduced key improvements for the 2025 edition. This year, we will incorporate a second medical assessor in each extrication challenge pit, ensuring a more comprehensive evaluation process.

“Additionally, trauma teams will now have an opportunity to participate in three events instead of two, allowing them to maximize their experience and learning opportunities.”

ABOUT THE WRO: Since 1999 the WRO has been dedicated to improving the skills, knowledge and capabilities of rescue and emergency service personnel worldwide, ensuring they can provide the highest level of care to those in need.

At the heart of WRO’s mission is the World Rescue Challenge (WRC) – an annual event that brings together the world’s best rescue and medical teams to compete, learn, and share best practices. This challenge not only showcases technical excellence but also fosters innovation in extrication and pre-hospital care techniques.

Beyond the WRC, education is a cornerstone of the work of the World Rescue Organisation. Through training programmes, workshops and knowledge-sharing initiatives, the WRO strives to equip rescue personnel with the latest techniques and best practices, ensuring continuous professional development. It also serves as a global network for the rescue community, by connecting professionals across all country borders.
