IPERN SEMINAR ON INTERNATIONAL PARAMEDICS DAY 2026

Jun 22, 2026 | Nationwide News

The Irish Paramedicine Education and Research Network (IPERN) has collaborated with Paramedic Studies at the University of Limerick to celebrate International Paramedics Day (IPD) 2026 with a full day seminar, which will take place on Wednesday 8 July.

The theme for IPD 2026 – Innovate & Integrate – will highlight the various ways paramedics are advancing practice, improving patient care, utilising digital technologies, showcasing organisational, service and clinical integration, pushing the boundaries of research and being at the forefront in education.

IPERN has now been innovating and integrating for five years, according to Dr Niamh Cummins, Founder and Chair of IPERN, and Associate Professor in Public Health at the School of Medicine, University of Limerick.

“We are delighted to celebrate this milestone on International Paramedics Day. We would be delighted if you would join us on-site for the day in the new Paramedic Studies facilities in the School of Medicine Park Point Campus at UL. Refreshments and lunch will be provided so register using the attend on-site option for catering purposes.”

Alternatively, the option is available to join the seminar online for the day or “just dip in and out of IPERN’s online programme”, she said, adding that an updated schedule will be availble shortly. IPERN will also co-design some of the sessions with delegates – use this link to confirmed preferred sessions.

“IPERN aims to build capacity, culture and collaboration in our research community in order to improve practice, policy and patient care in Irish Paramedicine. Our events are an opportunity for sharing knowledge and ideas, generating discussion, networking and building relationships between practitioners, service users, academics, policymakers and other healthcare professionals and researchers. You do not have to be an experienced researcher to attend – anyone with an interest in out-of-hospital care is very welcome!” Dr Cummins concluded.
