Entries are open for both the trauma and extrication challenges at this year’s National Rescue Challenge, which will be held on Saturday 18 April in Hacketstown Fire Centre, Co. Carlow, in partnership with Carlow County Fire & Rescue Service.
This annual event is hosted by Rescue Organisation Ireland (ROI) every year to focus on improving, updating and standardising the training for emergency and fire services personnel. The ROI event tests CPR skills, teamwork and readiness in real-life scenarios, when responding to road traffic collisions, and offers frontline responders with a unique opportunity to showcase their lifesaving skills and share knowledge in cardiac arrest management and pre-hospital trauma care.

The National Rescue Challenge 2026 will determine and select the top extrication and trauma teams to represent Ireland at World Rescue Challenge 2026, which takes place in Brazil on 18-23 November.
The five-day event, will be hosted in Rio de Janeiro, featuring top international teams competing in extrication and trauma scenarios. This international event for emergency services will focuses on improving skills, knowledge, and best practices in casualty care and rescue techniques.
